Reno Air Races

We took the boys to their first Reno Air Race this past weekend. It was so much fun!!
Watching some Aerobatics!

There are a lot of great WWII planes that fly in the races. The boys had so much fun picking their favorite colors and cheering them on.

The Canadian Snowbirds Performed in honor of their 40th Anniversary. They had one of the best shows I have seen.

There were a lot of Military aircraft to go in and see. The boys are in a helicopter playing around in the seats.

There was also a C-17.

We got to see the Rare Bear in its hanger and that is her owner (Mr. Lyle) walking past. In the world of air racing that is as good as seeing Brad Pitt walk by. The Bear has won 8 times at the Reno Air Races. She was my favorite growing up.

Here are the Unlimited planes lining up for the final race of the day. They reach top speeds of 500 mph.

Here are the boys playing with their new toy planes during the 30 minute weather delay. There were 40 knot winds blowing straight across the runway.

Note, there is no picture of the big race. They winds did not die down so the big, final, national championship race was canceled.

But, it seems like the boys had a ton of fun anyway. They were asleep before we got out of the parking lot.

Last Day of Summer and First Day of School

The last day of summer was full and fun. The boys had their faces painted ( a bat and a ghost for each)at the local art festival and got balloon swords complete with sheaths and helmets.

Then we went swimming with our friends.

The first day of school came early and fast, and a surprise moment of brotherly love for the big day.

Gerrit is in preschool at Kids Corner. When I put his birthday on his paperwork I said he was born in '05. Gerrit was born in '07 and Wyatt was born in '05. Oh well, what can a mother do?

Here he is going meet a friend after putting everything away in his cubby.

Wyatt in front of his school.

And at his own little desk! He is so grown up now.

He is testing out the slide of death. No state regulated play equipment at his little school. I survived metal and wooden play grounds, so I am hoping Wyatt got those genes and will survive his too.

All four kids in the school lined up to go into the class with the two teachers, Ms. Behren (left) and Mrs. Sutcliff (right).

Camping and Fishing

We went camping and fishing a couple of weeks ago with the boys.

This is the set up!
The only time Cortney doesn't have to cook!

Nana and Papa came out for a margarita and campfire.

Enjoying the campfire!

Fishing at Rush Creek.

Fishing with Great Grandpa's old dingy on Gull Lake.

They tried very hard but did not catch one fish. :-(

Gerrit's 3rd Birthday

Well, since we can't think of anything new or original, we had the same old birthday party for Gerrit. Of course, horseback rides. This year Aunt Caitlyn and Travis came down to help out. Both horses were working for this party!

The Veenker cousins from Bishop came up.

We had a Optimus Prime Transformer Pinata. Gerrit had never done a pinata before. I think that he liked being able to hit something with a stick.

Then to work off all the candy, we had some foot races across the yard and back through the woods.

Wyatt, crossing the finish line!

Gerrit, working his way over the final obstacle. Notice that he is still carrying his candy bag.

Presents too. Gerrit scored big!!

Kandy made him his very own blanket that he can take to preschool now. It has his favorite, airplanes!!

It was a very fun day with family and friends to celebrate our wonderful Gerrit!!

Billie

We finally broke down and got a dog for the boys. See, Trigger is not a playful dog and all my boys want to do is throw a ball for a dog every now and then. Enter Billie. She is a 7 week old Border Collie (Born April 1st) that we got for free from some friends on the Central Coast. We figured summer is better then winter for us to get a dog and the price was right.
She was wondering what the camera was. She was very interested in what I was doing.
Trigger and Billie meet!

You can see just how small she is right now in this picture. So cute!!

Her first exposure to snow. I hope she likes it since we get so much of it.
